Name Leghorn (Brown/White)
Classification Light breed Mediteranian
Origin Leghorns were used in New Zealand poultry farming as our original laying hens in the early years. This is before the introduction of man made genetics. Some of our leghorns were crossed at this time and nearly lost.
Nature Leghorns are an active bird and lay big white eggs. They are shy in nature but noisy when they are laying. They are the ultimate laying machine . Leghorns don’t generally go  broody.

Productivity Approximately 280-300 eggs per year
